Usually when I listen to audio books I like to follow along with a hard copy of the text. I was disappointed that this audio recording doesn’t follow word for word the actual book. Maybe they’re different versions, but I got lost at a few points.

David Schwartz: The Magic of Thinking Big Audio Book Summary
This book is authored by the great motivator Dr. David Joseph Schwartz, Ph.D. The book has made sales of over 4 million copies in print alone. Needless to say, it is one of the best practical books for everybody irrespective of their age, race, gender or the present condition they are in. It has got power to motivate anybody and everybody.
The complete theory or concept revolves around the power of thinking. The concept is simple ‘Think Big’ to become Big. The question is, if it is so simple then why everybody is not doing big by thinking Big. You will understand everything when you read it once, twice and thrice and so on.
The book is divided into 13 lessons starting with number one which is; ‘Believe You can do it and surely you will’, to the last number thirteen which is ‘How to think like a Leader’. This book touches every aspect of life and in particular the thinking power of mankind. As per the author, whatever happens in our life is a reflection of our own thinking and nothing else like luck etc. Our thinking decides our own destiny and fortune. Our happiness, prosperity and whoever you are is due to your own thinking. If you are poor it means that you think poor and negative.
The book discusses all mental hurdles towards success like excuses, fear, inaction habits etc. He advises that under no case should we berate ourselves. It is always ‘You Are What You think You Are’. If you think about defeat you are defeated. If you think about success you have already succeeded. The author says setbacks and defeats are normal part of life. It is quite possible to change a bad situations into a good one or an opportunity.
The detailed discussion also is on belief. Believe that ‘I am positive and I can’ and this attitude generates the power, skill and energy needed to do whatever you wish. When you believe that you cannot do it then the how to do it gets difficult automatically. When you believe there is way you automatically convert negative energy ‘let’s quit, let’s go back’ into positive energy ‘let’s keep going, let’s move ahead’. You attract solutions by believing solutions are possible. Refuse, simply refuse even to let yourself say or think it is impossible.
The author has devoted one chapter to Action Habit. Just thinking is not enough. Be a doer. Use action to cure fear and gain confidence. Do what you fear and the fear disappears. He says not to wait until conditions are perfect. Conditions will never be right. Always be ready for the worst because the worst always happens. Thinking big alone is not the secret to success but acting upon the big thoughts and ideas that you have is the sure way to go.
I found the most interesting concept the author has put in chapter six ‘You are What You Think Are’. He advises everybody to prepare a 60 second commercial to ‘sell yourself to yourself’. It is one of the best way to build confidence and feel important.
In the conclusion I find this book really a great motivator for everybody and anybody who wants big success irrespective of age, race, gender or even the present condition they may be in. The author has suggested very simple ways. He insists that people change their basic thinking habits. Numerous real life examples are quoted in the book. The message of the book is to ‘Think Big, Act Big’ in order to live on a grand scale be it in your job, business, family and social life.
