About the Chris Kyle Audiobook

chris kyle audiobook downloadChris Kyle is a famous US Navy Seal, and an extremely effective and accurate elite sniper. Based on the number of kills in an active war zone, Kyle was the most deadly sniper in American military history, and is known throughout the country and the world as an American hero for his contributions to the military campaigns in Iraq.

He has over 160 confirmed kills, throughout four tours in Iraq and was awardedd various commendations by the US government, including a Marine Corps Achievement Medal, two Silver Stars, five Bronze stars, and a Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Chris Kyle was honorably discharged from the navy in 2009. He was later killed while at a shooting range in Texas on February 2, 2013, along with his friend. Eddie Ray Routh was convicted for both counts of murder, and now is serving life in prison.

About the American Sniper Story

The American Sniper audiobook download tells the story of Chris Kyle’s life and experience in the Navy Seals throughout his various tours in Iraq.

The book, which was written by Kyle as an autobiography, goes into not only his account and experience during the war, but also the events leading up to the war, the reasons he served and felt committed to serve four complete tours, and the personal and familial struggles he went through during this time, particularly those with his wife and children while he was away.

Throughout the work, the autobiography is personal and heart touching. The book begins with Kyle’s early life as a rodeo rider in Texas, and explains some of the driving influences that urged him towards the military, most notably a sense of honor, and his father’s strong moral education, which held that every man either stands up for what he believes in or is pushed aside for those to trample his beliefs.

Chris Kyle joined the military after he experienced a bad rodeo injury, and in 1999 received an invitation to try out for the Navy SEALs, and elite special operations force. He was sent on one of the first missions in the Iraq War, and is famous for his first “confirmed” kill being for that of a woman approaching American troops with a concealed hand grenade

Kyle’s longest shot was in 2008, when he killed an insurgent attempting to launch a RPG at a US military convoy. The confirmed kill was made at a distance of 2,100 yard, or roughly 1.2 miles away.

While there is no “official” record of confirmed kills for any sniper, the Navy has confirmed Kyle to have killed over 150 insurgents throughout his tours in the Iraq War, with allusions that the number may in fact have been much higher. The previous record for highest number of kills was 109.

After Kyle’s death in 2013, his autobiography was set into an award-winning blockbuster film, with director Clint Eastwood and actor Bradley Cooper.
